Hiya Everyone!!
This week was probably one of the longest so far! But I feel like I could say that with every passing week haha but I think this time it was because I was able to skype my family for America's mother's day :) Oh, it was so wonderful! I could have talked for hours!
But this week was full of incredible miracles and progress!! So I'll get right down to it :)
Weekly Update
So this week we were able to teach two of our newest investigators! And they're are both absolutely fantastic! We met Frank at the printer at the library and we stood there talking about economics and the world market and whatnot for what seemed like ages. Mostly it was just him telling us about how he was getting his masters and then just giving us all kinds of statistics... but EVENTUALLY the conversation lead to the gospel! It was incredible. He said that he is very religious but he hasn't been able to find a church that he really can connect with. So we've been meeting with him outside of the library and we learn so much from each other each time we visit!
Shane is really really sweet! He lives in a care home and is one of the most polite people I've ever met! We can really see his desire to learn more about his Savior and to apply the Atonement in his life.
And Dave. Oh man is he great! We've been teaching him since I've been out on my mission and he lives on his boat! He really has been through quite a lot and he is looking for a way to just start fresh. He is incredible! He reads and prays and always has questions when we come to teach him which makes what we do so much more enjoyable and it really allows all of us to learn!
Miracle Moment
Ahh wow. This one is so good. This has been one of the sweetest moments in my mission so far. We have been working with a less active member, ....., who hasn't been to church in many years but knows most of the members in the ward. We've been trying to help her rebuild her testimony and the members have been reaching out to her as well. But for several years no one has really seen any change.
This past week we met with her and challenged her to take that first step. This is a commitment we have left with her many times before. This Sunday as we were waiting just inside the doors ,....., took her first steps inside the chapel for the first time in years. After sacrament meeting we went up to her to see how she was doing and with tears in her eyes she said "Sister Marquez handed me my dad's temple card, his work has been done. As I was sitting there I realized that all that was left was for me to do was to be sealed to him. I know what it is that I need to do now".
This has been one of the sweetest experiences I've ever had. The gospel is true and EVERY soul truly is important to our Heavenly Father. Every one! There are so many lost souls out there and Heavenly Father wants to bring every one of these lost sheep back into His fold.
Funny Stories
I was sitting on a bus next to a man named Ken and after we got off the bus we continued to talk and I asked him if he would like to meet again to which he replied with "If it's meant to be, then we will meet again". So I told him that I would write down our number and if he ever has any questions then he could call us. He agreed and so I went digging for my pen... umm I forgot my pen! I was freaking out!! So he said sorry and then just left. NOOOOOOO!!! So I ran to where sister Nelson was talking to someone and afterwards I asked her for a pen. I grabbed the pen and without thinking I just took off in the direction Ken was heading. I literally tracked him down for like 5 minutes and when I saw him I just shouted "KEN! WAIT!!" everyone was staring at me haha but I ran up to him, gave him oour number, and then wished him on his way. Yup. That happened.
Sister Nelson and I were just walking down a street lined with shops and we were approaching this shop on a corner that was closed and gated and as we walked past it the alarm went off and a voice started to say " You have triggered the alarm for this building. Stay exactly where you are and..." Well we didn't hear the rest because we just took off. It was weird... haha It probably sensed we weren't from around here. Oops.
Quote of the Week
In sacrament meeting this Sunday we were just sitting there when Brother Fisher in his talk starts discussing about how ridiculous it is for "experts" to say that everything about life is just chance; that we happened to be here in these perfect circumstances. He follows up with, "You know Hogwarts? Yes, well, the things that happen there in those classrooms are more likely than some of the things these 'experts' have come up with"
Oh how I love England.
Foods and Words!
So I ate at my first chippy this week! And I've got to admit, there just aren't burgers like in Texas :( but that's ok! They have good trifle? haha
Plait: What they call braids! Pronounced as "Plat"
Hair grip: is a bobby pin
Bobble: is a hair tie (I think it was called a bobble haha)
I love you all!! This week is our mission activity day and we're having a talent show. And somehow I was roped into doing my spongebob laugh as well as singing a mash-up of Disney songs in my "girl" voice. For those of you who don't know what that is, well, stay tuned and I will most likely be sending a video of it home next week :)
I love you all! Take care!
