Another week has gone by in the lovely England! Sorry this email is late... it was bank holiday again on Monday and we just had too many appointments on Tuesday so we couldn't schedule in time to email :( It was such a long wait haha
Miracle Moment
Oh boy. So many miracles! We meet so many incredible people here that just happen to be in the right place at the right time for us to meet them. It's incredible how Heavenly Father works. But this is a miracle that just stands as a testimony that our leaders truly are inspired receive inspiration for this work here in England. Sister Wolfe and I were on exchange and we had called President Preston to discuss an investigator. We had walked over to a park area that was secluded from the main road with no one really in sight. At the conclusion of our phone conversation he told us that we needed to look for someone in a red shirt! So we gladly accepted and hung up the phone. We gathered our things together and turned around to head back to the main road. There was another man who had just walked into the clearing, walking his dog. AND GUESS WHAT. He was wearing a red shirt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MIRACLE! So we ran up and started to talk to him. We had an incredible conversation about how we can have a personal relationship with God and how He wants to help us but He can't until we open the door for Him. Ahh so good! I loved this miracle :)
Funny Moment
Oh goodness. So the life as a missionary is so awkward. Always. I've just stopped writing all of the moments down because the entire day is made up of awkward moments! But this one was a mixture of brilliant/embarrassing/funny all in one!
So we had our stake conference this weekend and there is a Saturday Evening session and a Sunday morning session. The missionaries in the stake were providing the music for the evening session so we needed to show up a little earlier. I was on exchange with Sister Wolfe and we showed up a little earlier than most and so we decided to just walk around the chapel. We passed by a door and smelled pizza! Low and behold there were several boxes of it and so she exclaims "look! There's dominos pizza!" We didn't realize there was a man in there and so he poked his head around the corner and offered a box to us. Brilliant right? That's not the best part. We get to talking to him and I ask him what ward he is from, he said he was just visiting and then sister Wolfe asks him "Umm, pardon but what's your title?" It turns out that he was the guest to the stake conference! It was Elder Donaldson of the Area Seventy!! AND he gave us free pizza!! We're basically like best friends now haha at the end of the session we shook his hand and he did this crazy handshake thing. Yeah, we're basically best friends with the Area Seventy now :)
Foods and Words
So I can't remember if I have listed these ones before and it would take too much time to go searching through my sent emails.. so here are some of the english words once again :)
Proper- umm just means its good? I don't know haha like "that's a proper rainstorm that is!"
Posh- Upper class, really fancy and expensive. Like, that's a posh neighborhood!
Well nice- This is kind of like using the word proper. "That dinner was well nice!" Or if you really want to get out of control you could say "That haircut is proper well nice!"
As for food, in America when you say pie you think of apple, cherry, pumpkin and etc. Well, in England a pie could mean anything so you have to be very specific. Like a mincemeat pie. Yeah. Everything is baked into a pie here haha
Weekly Update
This week was a super long one! Or maybe it just seemed like it because I was late on my emailing haha but we are finding a lot of people to teach who are all so wonderful! It's coming up into the month of June which is the month of invitation! So we're really excited to see what is in store for the work here in England when June arrives. The week after my birthday is transfers and that is also when President and Sister Preston end their 3 year mission. I've only been here for 2 1/2 months but I have grown to love them and all of the hard work they have put in. I'm going to be incredibly sad to see them leave.
But the ward here in Crewe is amazing! They are such good member missionaries! I love every moment I get to work alongside them. Their testimonies are so strong and they have such a desire to share the gospel.
Quote of the Week
Oh wow. So many good things are said! I don't know how I would survive without humor though. And we've had some really great laughs this past week :)
"The good thing about Elder Walker though is that he doesn't blush" -President Preston
"Oh, I like them... they're not the usual Jehovah's Witnesses!" (everyone thinks that's who we are)
And this one I just really love. It's talking about Priesthood Authority but I think it also can apply to having the Gift of the Holy Ghost.
"Priesthood is the Authority, but the power comes our own personal worthiness" -Elder Donaldson of the Area Seventy
I love you all!! And until next Monday!!
