"Lest We Forget"

The past few weeks have been full of miracles and trials. Opposition is in all things right? We could never know the good without knowing the bad and we could never fully enjoy the blessings without experiencing the trials. It's so hard! But the work is so satisfying. I feel like these past two weeks I have really been able to fall in love with England and the people here. Especially the Crewe ward. I absolutely love and adore them! They have been my home away from home and my family when mine is so very far away.
History, Kind of
So I'm not a huge History Buff or anything, but we go to the library in the town centre to email every week and there is a monument our front that we pass every time. There's a quote around it that honors the military forces and for the town of Crewe there is a saying that is repeatedly used. "Lest We Forget".
And that has really been sticking with me recently. Our job out here as missionaries and back home is to share the gospel with all of those around us. Why? Is it because this is something that these people have never heard of before? No, it is simply because they are children of God and they have come here and they have forgotten where they have come from. Everyone here knew this plan! They all chose to come here but they have forgotten! And we have been blessed enough to remember.
These are our friends, our brothers and our sisters, and they don't remember that they come from a heavenly family. But we do. So let us go out and remind them! Let us work hard to be an example of the believers, in how we act and the words we say. Let us not forget where we came from.
I know these things are true. And I love this knowledge I have. I want to share it with all! To help them to remember their worth. I love you all! Let us all work a little harder to help those around us, "lest we forget".
Miracles!
There is a little girl in our ward here in Crewe named Rosie. We were at her home for tea one evening when she told us that she prays for us all of the time! It warmed our hearts. The family then let us know that when Rosie prays for something, it always works! And so, we thought that what we needed right now was the faith of a little child. And so we asked Rosie to pray for us to find someone to teach. And we knew that if she did that we wouold find someone to teach that week!
The following Sunday we saw her and went ot report our week. She told us that she had prayed for us every day by name to find someone.
Let me tell you, almost every day that week we found someone to teach. And not only that, but they became a new investigator too!
The faith of a little child is an example to me and to us all really. Heavenly Father is waiting to bless us, to open the windows of Heaven and pour down those thigns that will make us happier and will bless our lives! But, We. Need. To. Ask. We cannot just sit idly by, or even go to work and expect everything to follow! We need to pray to Him! To ask Him. And I testify that He will answer. Because He loves us.
Funny Moments
Oh my goodness. This one was so weird while it was happening but later, when we were awake, it was dead hilarious! So Sister Clawson and I are sleeping right and then I just hear this "Sister Reed... Sister Reed..."
"Yes, Sister Clawson?"
"I need you... to get... something"
"Umm, ok? What is it?"
There was a super long pause and I'm awake at this point and I realize that Sister Clawson is asleep, or I think she is. So then after a minute or so of silence I just go back to sleep. Next thing I know she's yelling "Sister Reed!! SISTER REED! I need you to get it for me now! I need it now!!!"
"Oh ok well what is it?"
"It's under the bed!!"
"It's... under the bed?"
I was seriously confused at this point... and I think the way I responded made her question her own request. haha
So she we just laid there in silence for another minute and then I heard her say
"Never mind, I think I'll be ok now"
I was seriously so confused at to what had just happened haha I've never been yelled at in my sleep before! But apparently in her dream I had locked her in a closet with spiders. Oops.
Quote of the Week
"The world would be pretty silent if only the best birds sang" ~Ward Mission Leader
"Fasting allows us to feel what it is like when we don't feed our spirits" ~Sister Clawson
"My Name is Miguel Hernandez*.
I live in the Crewe.
I work in the Crewe.
And I sleep in the Crewe" ~A man who came to church *name has been changed for privacy :)
*Uniquely England*
So this is just a small compilation of things that are uniquely English that I have just fallen in love with!
I love the little red post boxes that are set up around town for you to drop your mail in. And I love the red "Royal Mail" cars that drive around carrying your hopes of a letter with them ;)
I love all of the uneven roads and the side streets that have the worn down stones for a footpath. I love how there are still some doors that have a giant handle in the centre and how every house has a slot for post! And one of my favorite things about England is how everyone seems to name their home and they have a little plaque or sign on the front :) I passed one the other day that had a red plaque and in gold letters it read "Gryffindor House". Yup. It basically made my day. #harrypotterfanforlife
I love how everything is just so green! And the gray skies that show it's about to rain. I love the old buildings and the different accents you can hear travel from one town to another.
I just love England!
